Unit 6  When was it invented?

教学目标

Knowledge objective:

1.Ss be able to understand and describe how food can taste.

2.Ss be able to learn the history of potato chips and the sandwich by listening .

3.Ss be able to talk about the inventions of potato chips and the sandwich.

Ability objective:

1. Ss be able to talk about the invention of potato chips.

2. Ss be able to talk about the invention of the sandwich briefly.

Affective objective:

Ss can take up the awareness of finding the inventions in daily life and enjoy life.

重点难点:

Key points:

1.Ss be able to understand and talk about the invention of potato chips and the     sandwich.

2.Ss be able to grasp the uses of Passive Voice of the Past Tense.

Possible Difficulties:

Ss can talk about the stories of potato chips and sandwiches with their partners.

教学过程:

 

【导入】Lead in

Show a funny short movie, lead to the new word: sour.

Lead to the topic of this lesson.

 

【讲授】Presentation

And then ask: What other food is sour?

Use the teaching objects to revise or teach the following new words:

sweet, fresh, bitter, hot, crispy and salty, ect.

Ask them what other food is/are salty… to revise the words of food.

At the same time, have them make sentences like the following:

…is/are sour/sweet/hot….

Q: Among these food, what do you like best?

 Lead to the listening practice.

【活动】Listening  practice

Help them look at the chart and understand what task it is.

Play the record, have them listen and fill the chart, and then check them.

After that, Ss read the information in the second chart and try to have a guess   for what they may fill in the blanks.

Play it and have them do it.

Check the answer by getting one to read it.

Play the record sentence by sentence, Ss read after it.

 

【练习】Pair work

Ss read the conversation in groups, divide them into two parts to do it.

 Show and help them make the conversation, writing the key words on the

 Blackboard, and try to use the following questions and sentences to talk the

 procedure of the story, such as:

 What happened that day? And then? Was the cook angry? What did he do then?

 And next? … Did the customer love them? So? …

 Practice in pairs.

 Have some pairs show it.

活动Further listening practice

 Show the picture of sandwiches, lead to the next step.

 Ss read the questions first.

 Play the record, and have them choose the best answer to each question.

 Have one student read the questions, get someone else to answer them with       sentences, the others repeat after him/her.

 Show the story, have them read the part of the procedure in the passage.

【练习】Pair work

 Just like what they did in the part of potato chips, have them use the information

 in this part and make a conversation with their partners to talk about it.

 After several minutes, have some pairs show it.

【小结】summary

 Sum up what they learned this lesson.

 And help them take up the awareness of find the inventions in daily life and enjoy life.
